A group of walkers in Erewash is seeing 2026 in with a change to its membership after a long standing member decided to step down. Tony Beardsley was an original member of the Erewash Ramblers Committee, starting out as Programme Secretary and then becoming Chairman. Local people are being invited to attend an award-winning bereavement support group. Fay Bloor, Bereavement Support Coordinator and trained counsellor at Wathall’s, runs four free meetings a month and offers one-to-one counselling sessions in Derby – and places are now available. Storm Goretti impacts on CrossCountry services in and around Erewash

CrossCountry trains Service Delivery Director Nick Westcott, has issued a statement after the CrossCountry network was severely impacted by Storm Goretti with several routes not in operation this morning. CrossCountry runs services through Long Eaton Railway Station (to/from Nottingham/Birmingham) as well as more regionally. Derbyshire County Council state that schools don't need to tell the authority if they're closed. If a school has to close at short notice - like due to bad weather - it will contact parents and carers, often by text. The headteacher decides whether to close the school.
