New bridge is a big deal

Work has started to build a bridge over the Erewash Canal in Long Eaton which will be a vital link for residents of the town. Immigration Enforcement raids reported to be at the highest level in British history

Latest figures reveal the number of raids have soared by 77% in the UK since the government came into power, leading to an 83% rise in arrests (July 2024 to end of December 2025). A group of walkers in Erewash is seeing 2026 in with a change to its membership after a long standing member decided to step down. Tony Beardsley was an original member of the Erewash Ramblers Committee, starting out as Programme Secretary and then becoming Chairman. Budget for new A50 junction doubles, work not due to start until 2027 amid “catastrophic” financial risks
