A group of men have set themselves the challenge of walking the entire Cleveland Way – a total of 109 miles – in just 4 days to raise money for the Friends of the Baby Unit at Derby Hospital.
Friends, Tom, Callum and Ryan, will be joined by co-ordinator George Magdaleno who spoke about the reasons that the Baby Unit had been selected as beneficiary of the walk which is scheduled for 2nd October 2026.
He said: “This charity is incredibly close to my heart. Both of my children were born prematurely, Arthur was born at 34 weeks, and Ada was born at a day short of 33 weeks and they both spent nearly two weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit. During that time, we experienced first-hand the dedication of the staff and the life-saving equipment that gives vulnerable babies the very best chance.
“The care we received is something we will never forget, and this is our way of giving something back.”
Every donation will go towards funding vital equipment such as mobile incubators, helping ensure that other families going through similar experiences have access to the best possible.
