Introducing the Long Eaton Settlers Legacy Association Alliance

LESLA Alliance is a newly registered charity based in Long Eaton, bringing people together through community connection, wellbeing, volunteering, support for older adults, opportunities for young people and wider community participation.

Founded in October 2022, LESLA began as a community-led organisation celebrating the history, heritage and contribution of the Windrush generation and their descendants within Long Eaton. Today, that remains an important part of who they are, while also supporting opportunities, connection and community participation across the wider Long Eaton community.

After more than three years of community activity, events and engagement, LESLA officially became a registered charity in early 2026 and is now entering its first phase of community activation.

Since its formation, LESLA has successfully delivered community and gala events attended by local dignitaries, including the Mayor, MPs, community leaders, and well-known guests, helping to bring people together through culture, celebration, and community engagement.

Alongside its developing community programme, LESLA is also planning the inaugural Pride of Long Eaton Awards in October 2027, celebrating the individuals, organisations and community contributions that make Long Eaton such a special place to live, work and belong.

As the charity continues to grow, LESLA is developing opportunities focused on community connection, volunteering, support for older adults, wellbeing, future skills for young people and wider community participation.

LESLA is keen to work collaboratively with local organisations, volunteers, businesses and community partners who share a passion for strengthening community connection and creating positive opportunities across Long Eaton and the wider Erewash area.
