No rise in garden waste fee – so grab a £25 deal from Erewash Borough Council before 31st March

Erewash Borough Council has announced NO rise in its charge for emptying garden waste bins – and wants residents to grab the same money-saving £25 deal as last year.

The fortnightly brown bin collections resume at the start of March after their winter break, meaning households who signed up in 2025 will have two further collections before needing to resubscribe from 1st April.

The 2026 fee has been frozen at £37 – but an early bird discount is available again. This slashes the price to just £25 for those renewing their subscription or signing up for the first time before 31st March.

To get extra bins emptied the additional fee is only £18.75 per bin if residents beat the same early bird deadline. The full price from 1st April is £27.75.

Cllr Mark Alfrey, who is Erewash’s Lead Member for Environment, said: “We are pleased to announce that the price for garden waste collection service will remain unchanged, allowing residents to enjoy continued reliable service.

“The decision to freeze pricing reflects our commitment to providing affordable and consistent garden waste collections for our community.”

Cllr Alfrey described the subscription fee as a bargain compared to what many other local authorities charge. He said: “A report in the Telegraph put the typical cost across England at £56 – and that was two years ago. Here in Erewash you can get the service for less than half that with our early bird offer.

“It’s easy to renew or sign up for the first time online by visiting the Erewash Borough Council website. This is the simplest way but residents can also get the discounted rate by phoning our customer service team on 0115 907 2244 – or by popping into town hall receptions during opening hours. Don’t leave it too late – sign up today.”
