Rob Tiffney from Sandiacre completed his remarkable 5,000-mile challenge on 21st August, raising awareness of motor neurone disease.
On 29th August, Mr Tiffney reached his target of £50,000 for MND patients across the country.
Alistair Laing, Relationship fundraiser (East Midlands) at MND Association, highlights Rob’s accomplishment, “Raising £50,000 is an incredible milestone, and Rob’s dedication over the past year has been nothing short of inspirational. His challenge has never just been about the miles or the money - it’s about the conversations he’s started and the awareness he’s raised. Day in and day out, Rob has been out in his community, walking in all weathers, helping people understand motor neurone disease.
“His 5,000-mile journey, in honour of the 5,000 people living with MND in the UK at any one time, has touched hearts across the East Midlands and beyond. We are so thankful for everything Rob has done. His astonishing efforts are making a real difference to people affected by MND.”
Adam Thompson, Member of Parliament for Erewash, reflected in a letter sent to Rob about the importance of this initiative: "I know this money will make a real difference in the lives of people living with MND."
Rob shared his thanks to the community, "This is a community that has got behind the Walking Flagman. Thank you to every single person who has donated money in my bucket, beeped their horns, or spoken kind words in support."
The donations are still coming-in, Rob’s fundraiser is hosted on his JustGiving page, which will be sent directly to the MND Association.
On Saturday 30th August, Rob will be in the Tesco Long Eaton Branch from 10am to 12pm, raising awareness of MND. Later, Tiffney will be at Long Eaton United walking around the pitch before the start of their FA cup game.
