The store manager at a Borrowash supermarket has taken to social media to distance herself from a potential row over changes being made in the village car park.
Chloe Mossop, who runs the Co-op Supermarket in the village centre, issued the warning after the contractors who run the car park announced plans to install automatic number plate recognition cameras in both the front and rear areas.
The decision has been taken by Horizon Parking who currently manage the facility, resulting in a time limit for all customers who visit and staff who work in the community.
Anticipating inconvenience, the store manager apologised in advance but said that the matter had been taken out of her hands and that she now had to "follow the rules and abide by the decision made", but detailed efforts made to ensure everyone was aware.
She said: "I have requested letters from Horizon so that I can post out to all local businesses for when the implementation will come into place, for, as it stands now, I do not currently know a date for the installation of these cameras".
Apologising again in her on-line statment, Chloe added: "I just believe it is best to acknowledge and pass on the information sooner rather than later when it comes into effect."
The parking scheme allows two hours for each car, but that parking is available, not just for store users but for anyone visiting other local businesses.
A string of comments followed from local people who expressed concern about aspects such as potential fines and the effect on the local economy, including that it might deter some people from spending time in various businesses for domestic and leisure purposes, with the village having a number of different types of businesses, whilst one individual urged those against the plans to contact the local Parish Council to ensure concerns were noted and acted upon.
The level of response led to the store manager calling for everyone to "hold fire" until more details were known including the possibility of parking permits being made available for for business owners.
