£2m for new playgrounds to help get kids active

A record sum of almost £2million is to be spent by Erewash council on creating new playgrounds to get children more active. The borough’s leader Cllr James Dawson said the authority’s biggest ever investment in play areas will see the construction of 12 exciting fun zones where tired existing playgrounds have been identified as needing entirely new equipment. Three vehicle A52 crash sees seven people injured

Erewash Police officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a serious collision on the A52 Brian Clough Way. The incident at around 7:45pm on Monday 20th July involved a Ford Fiesta, Ford Transit and a Jaguar, on the westbound carriageway near Borrowash. Seven people were injured with two taken to hospital. Eight Derbyshire council-run care homes have now been emptied and closed, with remaining residents moved elsewhere, after planned sales to a sole provider failed late last year.
