A Derbyshire Conservative councillor has resigned to join Reform UK five months after the local elections.

Erewash MP Adam Thompson has secured £2 million a year for ten years for Cotmanhay and its people.

The East Midlands is set to benefit from a major government investment, with communities across Derby, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire receiving a share of the landmark £5 billion Pride in Place programme announced by the Prime Minister and with a part of Erewash amongst those set to benefit.

The Mayor of the East Midlands has announced a £3 million pot to help grassroots community groups across the region thrive. The Community Development Fund was launched by Claire Ward on 4th September and Cotmanhay is one of the 10 priority areas across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire which the fund is open to. 

Erewash Borough Council leader James Dawson has led tributes to Britain’s oldest man Donald Rose following the announcement of the Ilkeston war hero’s death at the age of 110 on Friday 11th July 2025.

Erewash Sound, which is run on a non-profit making basis, has been granted permission to continue broadcasting on FM until 2030.

Both MPs elected to seats covering the Erewash borough in the July 4th General Election have, along with a number of other Derbyshire MPs, co-signed a letter to the County Council Leader to protest and appeal against plans to close care homes and day centres.

A new report has revealed that a £2.8m boost for Erewash clinched by the borough council from central government is putting the borough on the map as it improves the lives of residents.
