County Council Leader announces key changes to cabinet team

Key changes to Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet team have been officially announced. 

County Council Leader Councillor Alan Graves has unveiled his new Cabinet team, with some new faces and also changes to some of the Cabinet portfolio titles.

The changes to the top team come one year after the Reform UK group won control of the administration of the county council following local elections.

Councillor Graves remains as Leader of the Council and has a new Deputy Leader, Councillor Stephen Reed, who replaces Councillor Rob Reaney in the deputy role.

Councillor Graves said: “We have been running the council for one year now and have overseen many changes which I believe will benefit the people of Derbyshire. The new faces on my Cabinet team will help us to take this good work forward, and the changes to some of the portfolios better reflects our focus and priorities. This includes the addition of a portfolio which will concentrate on Local Government Reorganisation and the continuing transformation of the council.”

Councillor Graves added: “I’d like to thank the outgoing Cabinet Members for their hard work and commitment.”

While some portfolio titles have changed, the number of positions remains the same.

The new Cabinet line-up, with some revised portfolio titles, is:

• Leader and Cabinet Member for Strategic Leadership – Councillor Alan Graves
• Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Business Services Councillor Stephen Reed
• Cabinet Member for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and Transformation – Councillor Paul Parkin
• Cabinet Member for Adult Care – Councillor Joss Barnes
• Cabinet Member for Children and Families – Councillor Paul Maginnis
• Cabinet Member for Finance and Efficiency (DOGE) – Councillor John Lawson
• Cabinet Member for Communities and Safety – Councillor Dan Price
• Cabinet Member for Environment – Councillor Carol Wood
• Cabinet Member for Highways – Councillor Charlotte Hill
• Cabinet Member for SEND and Education – Councillor Simon Mabbott.

Councillor Graves said: “I have a very strong and committed team who I know will work hard for all our residents, businesses and communities.”

All the changes announced were due to come into effect on Monday 11th May.
