Man charged following assault in Ilkeston

A man has been charged following an assault in Ilkeston town centre.

Derbyshire Police officers were called to reports that a man had been stabbed in South Street at about 6:30pm on Friday 10th July.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.

A man named as John Parnaby has now been charged with Section 18 GBH with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public area.

The 33-year-old, of South Street, Ilkeston, has also been charged with assaulting an emergency worker in relation to an incident whilst in custody.

He was detained in custody and was due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13th July.
