New train timetables go live from Sunday 17th May

Northern which runs regional rail services including through Ilkeston Railway Station, has issued a reminder to rail travellers about changes to timetables next month. The update to timetables in May forms part of the national timetable change, which takes place each May and December. Northern appoints DFTO executive as new Chief Operating Officer

Northern, which runs regional rail services including those through Ilkeston Railway Station, has appointed Warrick Dent as its new Chief Operating Officer. Warrick is currently Group Operations and Performance Director at Department for Transport Operator (DFTO), and is set to join the train operator in May. Funding success will improve three Derbyshire libraries, two in Erewash

Three Derbyshire libraries, two in Erewash, are to benefit from a £440,000 funding boost announced on 14th April 2026. Derbyshire County Council has welcomed the funding which will be spent on reinvigorating and enhancing its libraries in Alfreton, Ilkeston and Long Eaton. The county council’s libraries service successfully bid for the money from Arts Council England’s “Libraries Improvement Fund”, which comes under the government’s Arts Everywhere Fund, as part of a competitive process.
