Joint investigation launched after Ilkeston property fire

A joint police and fire investigation into a derelict building fire on Heanor Road in Ilkeston has concluded the most probable cause to be deliberate. Investigators believe the fire most likely started when a naked flame came into contact with combustible materials. Erewash MP, Adam Thompson has expressed significant disappointed at Lloyds Bank’s decision to close its Ilkeston branch on November 5th 2026. Derbyshire Police officers are appealing for information following two robberies in Ilkeston that are believed are linked. The first incident happened when the victim was approached by a man as he walked past a block of flats in Chalons Way at about 10:05pm on Sunday 31st May.
