Long-heralded plans for a new M1 junction in Derbyshire have the backing of the Prime Minister. Police respond with statement after increase in anti-social driving incidents in Ilkeston

Police officers in Ilkeston have responded having been made aware of an increase in instances of anti-social driving in the town. A statement said that issues, already known to affect Chalons Way, had become worse, but that surrounding areas were also being affected. Local residents are being encouraged to report anti-social driving seen occurring in the area. Officers from the Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team have issued a full closure order at a property at Jackson Avenue in the town. A closure order is a power Police use under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and it is used to shut down properties that are linked to persistent anti-social behaviour or serious crime. Plans to turn a series of historic pub buildings into flats have emerged after a bid to make the site a 19-bed HMO was rejected. Jet Property Lettings has put forward new plans for the former buildings which had comprised part of the Old Harrow Inn in St Mary Street, Ilkeston. £2m for new playgrounds to help get kids active

A record sum of almost £2million is to be spent by Erewash council on creating new playgrounds to get children more active. The borough’s leader Cllr James Dawson said the authority’s biggest ever investment in play areas will see the construction of 12 exciting fun zones where tired existing playgrounds have been identified as needing entirely new equipment.
