Ilkeston man jailed for sexual abuse of children

An Ilkeston man has been jailed for more than two decades for sexually abusing three children. Ralph Fletcher, 35, of Barclay Court, was found guilty of 14 sexual offences against the children during a trial in May this year. An 18-year old man has been arrested in Ilkeston on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of class A drugs. On Monday 24th August 2026, a Derbyshire Police call-handler received a call from a member of the public raising concerns that a male seen in on Bath Street appeared to be in possession of a weapon. Steps are being taken by Derbyshire County Council to temporarily limit the number of fridges and freezers collected at its household waste recycling centres. Increased demand has led to four Derbyshire NHS clinics being restricted to “appointment only” for several hours a day, in a move dubbed “disappointing and sad” by an MP. Opening hours at four urgent treatment centres in Buxton, Ilkeston, Matlock and Ripley are to remain the same at 8am to 8pm but walk-ins will now be restricted for the tail end of each day, with appointments required. Police respond with statement after increase in anti-social driving incidents in Ilkeston

Police officers in Ilkeston have responded having been made aware of an increase in instances of anti-social driving in the town. A statement said that issues, already known to affect Chalons Way, had become worse, but that surrounding areas were also being affected.
