Long Eaton Police officers have issued an appeal for information after two men became involved in a fight in the town centre. A statement from Derbyshire Police said that reports were received about an assault at around 11:15pm on Thursday 10th September, which led to a cordon being put into place in the Market Place, which remained in place on Friday morning 11th September whilst investigation work continued, with some local shops being forced to remain closed as a result. A Police officer has been assaulted whilst responding to an incident of anti-social behaviour involving e-bike and moped users in Long Eaton. The name of a spectacular new bridge across the Erewash Canal has been officially unveiled ahead of its opening next month. Rail travellers faced significant disruption at the weekend with CrossCountry left to encourage passengers to check before making journeys, after a power outage affected its control centre. £2m for new playgrounds to help get kids active

A record sum of almost £2million is to be spent by Erewash council on creating new playgrounds to get children more active. The borough’s leader Cllr James Dawson said the authority’s biggest ever investment in play areas will see the construction of 12 exciting fun zones where tired existing playgrounds have been identified as needing entirely new equipment.
