Funding success will improve three Derbyshire libraries, two in Erewash

Three Derbyshire libraries, two in Erewash, are to benefit from a £440,000 funding boost announced on 14th April 2026.  Derbyshire County Council has welcomed the funding which will be spent on reinvigorating and enhancing its libraries in Alfreton, Ilkeston and Long Eaton. Police Officers issue advice to buyers and sellers after two local robberies

Derbyshire Constabulary officials have issued safety advice for anyone buying or selling items on Facebook after two reports of robberies, one in the Erewash borough. Reports were received regarding two people being threatened with knives after meeting people they had agreed to sell mobile phones to using the social media network’s Marketplace feature. When Lynda’s boiler started to leak and malfunction, she didn’t have the money to get it serviced. The problem persisted for a year until regional charity Groundwork Five Counties helped her get a free boiler repair through Cadent. Officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team have taken action after the discovery of a cannabis grow in the town. On the 2nd April, entry was gained to a property on Walton Street in the town, despite what was described as a 'high-tech' security set up. The installation was subsequently cleared.
