Ilkeston Police officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries after receiving reports that a child had been approached by a man in Nutbrook Crescent, Kirk Hallam.

The incident is understood to have occurred close to the junctions of Wirksworth Road and St. Norbert Drive at around 3:40pm on Monday 14th October.

The boy told officers that the man had attempted to grab his bag – but that he had not touched it – and that the man had not said anything to him before getting back into a car – a green 4×4 style vehicle which was being driven by another man – which then moved off down Dallimore Road.

A CCTV trawl has not led to any information, and whilst officers spent the following day speaking to local residents, further details about the vehicle and the men reportedly involved are yet to become available.

High-visibility patrols have also been deployed to the area.

Officers are very keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time – in particular those who have not already spoken to officers and may have CCTV or dashcam from the area at the time of the incident.
