Man charged with attempted murder and remanded following incident in Sandiacre

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in which a man suffered multiple stab wounds in Sandiacre.

The incident occurred at 11.30pm on Friday 3rd July, when Police officers received details from the East Midlands Ambulance Service that a man had suffered stab wounds at a set of flats in Town Street.

Officers quickly attended the scene, and two officers found a man in his 20s, from the Swadlincote area, had suffered a number of serious stab wounds.

One of the officers provided immediate first aid to the man, while the other arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of attempted murder.

The injured man was kept in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

On 6th July, Michael Down appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court after being charged with one count of attempted murder.

The 41-year-old, of York Street, New Bilton, Rugby, was remanded to prison and will next appear at Derby Crown Court on 3rd August.
