A Derbyshire hotel which has been used as asylum seeker accommodation has become centre of heated debate with officials. A Derbyshire council is due to spend more than £1.5 million replacing a “deeply flawed” 7,000-home masterplan. Reports of suspicious activity lead to Sandiacre ‘stash house’ being taken down

Borough Police officers have taken action in response to reports of ongoing suspicious activity at a property in Sandiacre. Response teams were sent to Longmoor Road on Saturday 6th June 2026. On entry, officers found a large quantity of cannabis along with other items consistent with drug supply. In the immediate aftermath, a statement said that the investigation was ongoing. Scores of homes could soon be built alongside the M1 and A52 on the outskirts of a Derbyshire town, in the protected Green Belt.
