Appeal to find man in connection with shoplifting offences

Derbyshire Police officers are appealing for information to trace a man wanted in connection with a number of shop thefts across Derbyshire, including a part of Erewash. Despite extensive enquiries, officers have been unable to locate 51-year-old Simon Spencer, who is from Nottingham but is known to travel into areas including Sawley as well as Derby and Codnor. A sixth-generation Derbyshire farming family faces the prospect of having to sell dozens of cattle amid the fallout over a new “nature haven” in the area. Vehicles seized as part of ‘Operation Drive Insured’

Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team officers have taken part in a county wide operation to target drivers using vehicles without insurance. During week commencing 20th April, a number of vehicles were seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. A new beauty spot is to be created by Erewash Borough Council on grassland it owns – with the potential for it to be turned into a wood that would be a haven for wildlife. A man has been jailed after being caught in possession of a knife. After a 999 call was made to Police detailing the matter on a local bus in Sawley, local Safer Neighbourhood Team officers responded immediately, making their way to Tamworth Road.
