More than 850 e-scooters seized since new approach

Derbyshire Police officers are continuing to stop e-scooter riders and seize their vehicles after they have been seen being used illegally, as highlighted in a video featuring two recent stops made by the force's bikes team. The week commencing 18th May 2026 has seen an intensification of Derbyshire Constabulary's knife crime initiative called 'Operation Sceptre', with a range of activities being carried out in and around Erewash.
