Derby’s £35m Market Hall running at forecast £338k loss

Derby’s renovated Market Hall looks set to make a loss of £338,000, new documents have revealed. The Derby City Council-owned venue, which reopened in 2025 after a major £35 million restoration project, is according to a financial report forecast to be in the red next year due to “a shortfall of trader income”. City Leader gives Market Hall review update

The leader of Derby City Council says she is focusing on “building the Market Hall’s current momentum” amid an ongoing review of its operation since a major revamp took place. Councillor Nadine Peatfield provided an update after officers confirmed the historic city centre building was under a review following criticism since its grand reopening almost a year ago.
