Derby residents will be heading to the polls on Thursday 2nd May to take part in Combined County Mayoral Authority and Police and Crime Commissioner elections. 
A non-profit making shop that gave away two tons of chocolate when it was opened by a visiting beauty queen is one of the latest outlets to get a huge boost from an Erewash Borough Council crusade to keep local high streets thriving.
Erewash Borough Council is urging residents hardest hit by the cost of living to apply for grants worth thousands as part of a £1million-plus drive to make homes across the borough more energy efficient.
Grants are still available from Derbyshire County Council for charities, community and voluntary organisations to provide Warm and Welcoming Spaces this winter.

Honey Hope Farm, a local organisation dedicated to promoting mental health recovery and community wellbeing, is staging a special 'Wassailing' weekend on Saturday, 13th January 2024 at 14:30 and again on Sunday the 14th at 10am at their main site on Alfreton Road in Little Eaton, which, they say, promises to be a joyous celebration of nature, friendship, and new beginnings.
Erewash Borough Council is working hard to ensure no-one has to sleep on the streets this Christmas – and has issued an appeal for help from local people.

Children who are exempt from paying for school meals can get free lunches before they head back to class after the Christmas holidays – thanks to fun days lined up by Erewash Borough Council.
