Drug dealing and substance misuse were prioritised in PCC Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts’ Police and Crime Plan in response to public concerns raised during her consultation.
In March, the progress made by Derbyshire Constabulary will be reviewed by the Commissioner, when she receives a report from the Chief Constable covering the activity to tackle the problem as part of her robust scrutiny of the Constabulary’s performance.
The Commissioner has always been clear that she is working with local residents to respond to their concerns. As such, members of the public and local businesses are invited to submit their own questions relating to drug dealing and substance misuse ahead of the report’s publication, for response from the Constabulary. Both the report and the questions and answers will be published on the Commissioner’s website.
Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Dr Fatima Eltinay, who leads on drug dealing and substance misuse for the Commissioner, said: “This is an important opportunity for residents and businesses to ask questions about issues that matter deeply to them. Drugs and substance misuse sit at the heart of so much crime and cause unacceptable harm to individuals, families and whole communities.
“We know there is excellent work happening across Derbyshire, but it’s right that the public can challenge, question and shape how we respond, whether that’s around enforcement, safeguarding victims, or improving access to treatment and rehabilitation.
“By listening directly to our communities, we can make sure our approach is effective, compassionate and focused on long-term solutions.”
This public assurance exercise forms part of the Commissioner’s wider commitment to working with residents, businesses and partners to reduce harm, disrupt organised drug crime and improve support for people affected by addiction.
Questions should be submitted in writing, before midnight 4 February 2026. Please note questions cannot be in relation to current investigations. Please use this link to send your question.
