An amnesty which began at the start of February has seen 18 blank firemarms handed into Police Stations in Derbyshire.

Under Operation Pivot, a national firearms amnesty, running throughout the month, there is a focus on five models of imitation firearms, which have been shown to be readily convertible by testing from the NCA, and are therefore illegal.

These models are:

  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM Model 92 blank firing self-loading pistol
  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM New Police blank firing self-loading pistol
  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM Model 96 blank firing self-loading pistol
  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM Model ‘GAP’ blank firing self-loading pistol
  • .380R (9mmK) PAK Bruni BBM ME Ranger single-action blank firing revolver

Possession of one of these blank firearms after the amnesty ends could result in a prison sentence of 10 years.

Eight of the above firers have been handed in, as well as ten other types of blank firearms so far in the amnesty.

For Erewash, the nearest location where firearms can be handed in, is the Police enquiry desk at St Mary’s Wharf.

Chesterfield and Buxton police stations are also taking items in.

Anyone unable to go to one of these stations, can contact Police officers via non-emergency routes to organise an alternative arrangement.
