Erewash MP, Adam Thompson has expressed significant disappointed at Lloyds Bank’s decision to close its Ilkeston branch on November 5th 2026.

This is just the latest in a string of commercial banks abandoning our high streets. One in five people still rely on in-person banking, disproportionately including the elderly and disabled.

The closure would also leave a large and prominent building on Bath Street empty, without an obvious future.

Adam has requested an urgent meeting with Lloyds Bank to discuss the impact of this closure on local people, and will remain in contact with the LINK banking network.

He said: “I was very disappointed to learn this morning that Lloyds Bank in Ilkeston is to close in November 2026. We all know that this is just the latest in a string of commercial banks abandoning our high streets, with little concern for the 1 in 5 people who still rely on in-person banking – disproportionately the elderly and disabled.

“I have requested an urgent meeting with Lloyds Bank to discuss the impact of this closure on local people.”
