Derby College Group (DCG) proudly hosted the 47th Merlane Trophy last week, welcoming some of the region’s most talented carpentry and joinery students for a highly respected industry skills competition. Organised by the Institute of Carpenters, the Merlane Trophy is a flagship event for apprentices across the Midlands, challenging competitors to complete a complex four-hour practical task. Transformative city flood defence project progresses at pace

Work is progressing at pace on a project to bolster Derby’s flood defences and unlock the potential for more regeneration. Two men have been arrested following a series of raids by the National Crime Agency in Kent and the East Midlands, as part of an investigation into a criminal network suspected of smuggling people into the UK in boats.
