Police are investigating after protected trees were chopped down in an ancient Derby woodland. Earlier this month it was reported how “youths” damaged and chopped down trees, which dated back to the 1600s, to make dens at the Chaddesden Wood nature reserve. Hedgerow Heroes celebrate nature restoration achievement

Regional charities Groundwork Five Counties and CPRE Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have concluded their collaborative nature restoration project. Work has started on a 20-year plan for new villages, towns, roads and city extensions across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. A rail expert has said Derby needs a revolutionary tram network “because otherwise the city will decline”.
