Patients attending Royal Derby Hospital’s A&E due to a mental health crisis can now benefit from a new standalone 24/7 assessment centre. The new mental health urgent assessment centre is housed within the Radbourne Unit at Royal Derby Hospital, which already accommodates patients with significant mental health conditions. This centre involves refurbishments of existing space to form four assessment rooms, a clinical room, offices and a reception. Growth forecast improves but Budget must support business as 2027 downgraded

East Midlands Chamber has renewed its call for the Autumn Budget to ease pressure on business and incentivise investment, after revised forecasts from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) predicted 1.1% UK growth in 2026 and 1% in 2027. The OECD figure for 2026 has been revised upwards from 0.9% it predicted in June, while the prediction of 1% growth for 2027 is downgraded from 1.1% forecast in June. A new driving test centre for Derby has been approved to help cut waiting times for learner drivers and resolve “significant challenges”. Council bosses have approved plans for a new centre to be located at Chatsworth House at Aspen Drive, Raynesway.
