Introducing the Long Eaton Settlers Legacy Association – the LESLA Alliance, a newly registered charity based in Long Eaton focused on community connection, wellbeing, volunteering, support for older adults, opportunities for young people and wider community participation.

After more than 3 years of community activity and events, LESLA officially became a registered charity in early 2026, and began moving into a first phase of community activation.

The importance of Windrush heritage, culture and the contribution of the Windrush generation and their descendants remains an important part of identity and community work, while also building wider opportunities, support and connection across the Long Eaton community.

Since becoming established in October 2022, LESLA has successfully delivered community and gala events attended by local dignitaries, including the Mayor, MPs, community leaders and well-known guests, helping bring people together through culture, celebration and community engagement.

Alongside a growing community programme, work has been ongoing to organise the inaugural Pride of Long Eaton Awards, planned for October 2027, celebrating the people, organisations and community contribution that make Long Eaton special.

As the development of a wider community programme gathers momentum, Erewash Sound has become a community media partner for LESLA Alliance, helping share community activity, volunteering opportunities, events and positive community stories across the area.

As a new charity, LESLA is keen to work collaboratively with local organisations and community partners who share a passion for strengthening community connection and participation within Long Eaton and the wider Erewash area.
