Thousands of people across the East Midlands have already shared their views on the future of transport in the East Midlands through the Mayor’s Big Transport Conversation – but there’s just one week left to have your say.
Fewer potholes, simpler ticketing, more frequent buses, and safer cycling routes are just some of the improvements suggested so far by residents across the region.
The Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, is urging people, businesses, and community groups to make sure their voices are heard before the consultation closes in one week on 8th February 2026.
Mayor Claire said: “Since launching The Mayor’s Big Transport Conversation, engagement has been fantastic, with more than 3,000 responses now received. People across the East Midlands are making it clear what they want from their transport network, and those people are shaping the future of their region.
“This is your last chance to join them. Whether it’s better buses, safer streets, or smoother journeys for everyone, we need to hear from you. Please speak up now, so your community’s voice is part of the decisions that will keep our region moving for years to come.”
Most common suggestions so far include:
From April, Mayor Claire will have the power to plan transport across the entire region as a single, integrated network – bringing together buses, trains, walking, and cycling under one strategic vision.
Mayor Claire said: “Don’t miss your chance to shape the future of transport in the East Midlands. Tell us where buses need to run, where roads and pavements need repair, and where cycling infrastructure isn’t good enough. Your feedback will help create a transport system that works for everyone – in rural villages, market towns, and city centres alike.
“This is your chance to ensure your community is represented and your voice is heard.”
The Mayor’s Big Transport Conversation runs until 8th February 2026. Have your say and help shape the transport network you want to see.
