Appeal issued after e-scooter is stolen during robbery in Ilkeston

Ilkeston Police officers have issued an appeal for information after a robbery in the area, in which a 15-year-old boy had an e-scooter stolen.

The incident happened on Saturday 11th July at Potters Lock, just off Monks Close, where the 15-year-old and his friend were fishing in the canal.

At around 2:30pm, they were approached by a man who is described as white, around 30 years old, and of average build.

The man had long hair and was wearing a headband, and wrap-around sunglasses.

He was heavily tattooed across his neck, arms, hands, and face – with a green tattoo and a red tattoo on his right cheek. He was wearing a green Nike jacket, green or grey shorts, and Air Max 95 trainers. He was also carrying a Hugo Boss ‘man bag’.

The man spoke to the boys for a short while before leaving and returning around an hour later.

This time he was dressed in a navy-blue Slazenger hoodie, with the hood up, matching tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with multiple layers underneath. He was also wearing the sunglasses with a black snood covering his nose and mouth.

The male threatened the victim and demanded that he hand over the e-scooter, before taking it and leaving at approximately 4pm.

Officers are very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a man matching this description in the area, or with any other information which may help with their enquiries.
