Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Police Officers have partnered with colleagues from the Road Policing and Vehicle Examination teams to carry out an operation to target drivers committing moving traffic offences.

A total of 35 vehicles were stopped during a two-and-a-half hour period on the 26th January 2026.

From those activities, 21 tickets were issued and 2 vehicles were seized for no insurance and for driving whilst disqualified. 19 of the tickets issued were because the driver was caught using their mobile phone whilst driving.

The operation was set up in line with one of a set of new quarterly priorities,  described as ‘Partnership work supporting road safety’.

Neighbourhood Investigation Officer Statham said: “One of our priorities published in January this year was partnership work supporting road safety. We have and continue to proactively target motor vehicles that fail to meet legal standards and put people at risk.

“Our joint operation yesterday has proved to be successful and a sadly many tickets issued were all for the fatal four which are the four main preventable causes of serious injury and death on the roads.

“Using a mobile phone, not wearing a seatbelt, speeding and drink / drug driving will not be tolerated on the roads, and we will continue to stop drivers that break the law”.
