What's going on with Erewash Sound?

29/04/2019: A cheque has been presented to a representative of an Ilkeston charity after a coffee morning was held at the Erewash Sound Media Centre recently.

20/03/2019: Erewash Sound has received three letters of reply after Erewash MP Maggie Throup approached the broadcast regulator - OFCOM - seeking a quick decision over a bid by radio station officials to install a second transmitter to provide better coverage across the borough.

22/02/2019: Erewash MP Maggie Throup has written to OFCOM seeking a quick decision over a bid by local radio station Erewash Sound to install a second transmitter.

06/02/2019: The ongoing development of media training facilities in Erewash has taken a further step after the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
20/10/2018: The success just keeps on coming for Erewash Sound.  In the wake of securing accreditation to deliver NCFE training from within the Academy, and a grant from DHL UK Foundation to install a new state-of-the-art training studio at The Media Centre in Cotmanhay, presenters Jeannie Nicolas, Emma Snow and Mark Jarvis then picked up a handful of awards at the 2018 Community Media Awards.  Now, Erewash Sound has been declared as the Best Local Radio Service in Derbyshire in the SME 2018 Midlands Enterprise Awards.
08/10/2018: Two members of staff from Risley bsaed Treetops Hospice have staged a temporary coup on the Erewash Sound Breakfast Show to mark Hospice Care Week.

17/09/2018: Following on from the success of last year, Erewash Sound has taken four awards from six nominations in five categories at this years national Community Radio Awards which were held in Sheffield on Saturday 15th September.  In 2017, the station received four nominations.
12/07/2018: Erewash Sound, the local community radio station based in Ilkeston is expanding their media academy.  This is to offer more media training to young people in Erewash.  The Erewash Sound Academy is now accredited to deliver NCFE training.   NCFE training is NVQ equivalent and the courses give varying amounts of educational credits.  The will be achieved in part by a £10,000 grant from DHL UK Foundation Transform It! funding.
19/01/2017: In a debate in Parliament, local MP Maggie Throup has backed the move for community radio stations to be part of the DAB network.  Currently inhibited by astronomical costs, community radio stations such as Erewash Sound are too often restricted in their coverage.
