Derby College Group T Level Science students have completed a hands on research project with Myton Horticulture, investigating the factors that affect the shelf life of cut flowers. The Science team worked with Myton Horticulture to design a brief that gave Year 1 T Level Science students the chance to apply their skills to a genuine industry challenge. Derby College Group recently brought together around 200 members of Derby’s ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) community for a wide-ranging careers and wellbeing event, connecting learners with employers, course advisors, health services and community support organisations under one roof. Derby College Group hosts esteemed Merlane Trophy as student makes history

Derby College Group (DCG) proudly hosted the 47th Merlane Trophy last week, welcoming some of the region’s most talented carpentry and joinery students for a highly respected industry skills competition. Organised by the Institute of Carpenters, the Merlane Trophy is a flagship event for apprentices across the Midlands, challenging competitors to complete a complex four-hour practical task. Businesses support Derby College Group students with live networking event

Students at Derby College Group gained valuable real-world experience this week as local businesses joined them for a live networking event designed to build confidence and employability skills. More than 100 students from Business Studies, Travel and Tourism, and T Level courses took part, alongside 19 representatives from 17 businesses spanning sectors including photography, cyber security, business brokering, and marketing.
