Long-distance train operator CrossCountry has announced that its annual Customer and Communities Improvement Fund, and its Biodiversity Improvement Projects fund, are now open for applications. Borough Council helps iconic firm make its first electric bike

An iconic company that has been celebrated for 80 years as the Rolls-Royce of bicycle makers is to debut its first ELECTRIC powered two-wheeler – thanks to help from Erewash Borough Council. Local voluntary organisations in Derbyshire are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to £1.000 to become smoke-free spaces as part of the county’s ambition to become smoke free by 2030. A rowing club that was launched 15 years ago as the only one in Erewash has thanked the borough council for backing it with a £3,438 grant amid a continuing boom in membership. The popularity of the Devil’s Elbow Rowing Club had led to it running out of space to store boats until it asked the town hall for help.
