National Crime Agency and Border Force officers have seized 25 inflatable boats that were destined to be shipped to cross-Channel people smugglers. The CEO of a Heanor-based organisation that provides practical and emotional support for families in need and survivors of domestic abuse, has completed a 500-mile charity cycle challenge. A new specialist service is being launched in some Derbyshire secondary schools to help young people break free from vaping and smoking. Vibe is the first dedicated smoking and vaping cessation service for young people in Derbyshire. More than 30 new apprentices have started their careers with Derbyshire County Council, as part of the Apprenticeship Programme 2026. Patients attending Royal Derby Hospital’s A&E due to a mental health crisis can now benefit from a new standalone 24/7 assessment centre. The new mental health urgent assessment centre is housed within the Radbourne Unit at Royal Derby Hospital, which already accommodates patients with significant mental health conditions.
