New play parks, free parking and new council for south of Derbyshire - Councillor James Dawson Erewash Sound
Derbyshire Constabulary has been recognised as a Tier Two force, as part of a new Policing Performance system, introduced today (Thursday 16th July) by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
The system replaces the ‘scan’ and ‘engage’ monitoring process, with forces assigned a level, according to severity and impact of performance concerns.
It aims to strengthen the process for assessing force performance and facilitate improvements through earlier support and intervention where performance is declining or a concern.
Forces are given a Tier level, from Level One to Level Four (special measures), set by the Policing Performance Monitoring Group (PPMG), chaired by HMICFRS, according to performance data and evidence, and views and professional expertise of other representatives.
Chief Constable Simon Blatchly said: “Officers and staff across Derbyshire turn up every day, determined to keep people safe and arrest those causing harm.
“This new performance system looks at several different factors and gives opportunities to access additional support where needed. While we have been classed as a Tier Two force, there is still more for us to do and collectively we strive to be in the top category.
“We will be working closely with HMICFRS over the forthcoming months, to review areas of strength and where improvements can be made, to keep the people of Derbyshire safe.”
PCC Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts said: “This grading is both fair and encouraging. It reflects the significant progress the Constabulary has made in implementing planned improvements, while also recognising that there is more work still to be done.
“I know how hard officers, staff and volunteers across the force are working to embed these changes, strengthen performance and keep our communities safe and on behalf of our residents and businesses, I’m grateful.”
