Joint investigation launched after Ilkeston property fire

A joint police and fire investigation into a derelict building fire on Heanor Road in Ilkeston has concluded the most probable cause to be deliberate. Investigators believe the fire most likely started when a naked flame came into contact with combustible materials. Shoplifter jailed after being caught stealing from numerous shops across Derbyshire

A shoplifter has been jailed after being caught stealing from numerous shops across Derbyshire, and including in parts of Erewash. Simon Spencer’s offending spanned several months between January and June this year in which he targeted major supermarket chains. Targeted patrols cut problem behaviour as hotspot policing becomes standard practice

A hotspot policing operation that has delivered more than 20,000 targeted patrols across Derbyshire is now being embedded into everyday policing. Operation Shango was launched in July 2023 to tackle anti‑social behaviour and crime in areas where we saw high levels of problem behaviour.
