Arrest made for drug and knife offences in Long Eaton

Police officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team have taken action after spotting a young male on a bike who was loitering and acting suspiciously on Wilsthorpe Road. On Monday 13th July, offices went to speak to the male who then tried to make off, but after a brief tussle, he was detained for a stop-search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. Derbyshire Constabulary has been recognised as a Tier Two force, as part of a new Policing Performance system, introduced today (Thursday 16th July) by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS). More than 850 e-scooters seized since new approach

Derbyshire Police officers are continuing to stop e-scooter riders and seize their vehicles after they have been seen being used illegally, as highlighted in a video featuring two recent stops made by the force's bikes team. Joint investigation launched after Ilkeston property fire

A joint police and fire investigation into a derelict building fire on Heanor Road in Ilkeston has concluded the most probable cause to be deliberate. Investigators believe the fire most likely started when a naked flame came into contact with combustible materials. A shoplifter has been jailed after being caught stealing from numerous shops across Derbyshire, and including in parts of Erewash. Simon Spencer’s offending spanned several months between January and June this year in which he targeted major supermarket chains. Targeted patrols cut problem behaviour as hotspot policing becomes standard practice

A hotspot policing operation that has delivered more than 20,000 targeted patrols across Derbyshire is now being embedded into everyday policing. Operation Shango was launched in July 2023 to tackle anti‑social behaviour and crime in areas where we saw high levels of problem behaviour.
