Safe and Sound, a Derbyshire-based charity dedicated to protecting children and young people from exploitation, is delighted to announce the appointment of three new trustees to its Board: Lisa Richards, Amanda Battey and Rashifa Ali.
A statement said that these new appointments bring a wealth of experience, insight and passion, further strengthening the charity’s governance and supporting its continued growth in response to increasing demand for its services.
Lisa Richards, a Partner at Dains Accountants, brings over 25 years of experience in providing strategic financial advice and business support across the Midlands. With a strong background in working alongside charities as both an advisor and trustee, Lisa offers valuable expertise in financial resilience and sustainable growth. A lifelong Derby resident, she was inspired to join Safe and Sound through her belief that every young person deserves safety, support and the opportunity to thrive.
Amanda Battey joins the Board with over 35 years of professional experience spanning the NHS, local government, private and charitable sectors. A Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, Amanda specialises in workforce, training and education, and brings significant expertise in leadership, performance improvement and partnership working. Her commitment to fairness, safety and opportunity for young people aligns closely with the charity’s mission to protect and support those at risk of exploitation.
Rashifa Ali, also Derby-born and raised, offers a strong connection to the local community and a passion for empowering young people. Her early work supporting children’s education, alongside her recent recognition as a Young Volunteers Award recipient in 2025, reflects her dedication to making a positive difference. Now working in the private client legal sector, Rashifa brings valuable perspective, commitment and a strong desire to support vulnerable young people through her role as trustee.
Commenting on the new appointments, Tracy Harrison, CEO of Safe and Sound, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Lisa, Amanda and Rashifa to our Board of Trustees. Each brings unique skills, professional expertise and a shared passion for safeguarding young people. Their combined knowledge and commitment will play a vital role in strengthening our organisation as we continue to grow and respond to the increasing challenges facing young people today.”
A statement said that the addition of three new trustees reinforces Safe and Sound’s commitment to strong governance, partnership working and sustainable development. As the charity continues to expand its reach and impact, these appointments will support its mission to provide vital services, raise awareness and create safer futures for children and young people across Derby and Derbyshire.
