Appeal to find man in connection with shoplifting offences

Derbyshire Police officers are appealing for information to trace a man wanted in connection with a number of shop thefts across Derbyshire, including a part of Erewash. Despite extensive enquiries, officers have been unable to locate 51-year-old Simon Spencer, who is from Nottingham but is known to travel into areas including Sawley as well as Derby and Codnor. Premier League programme to steer young people from violence

Officers from Derbyshire have been working together with Derby County and the Premier League to kick off a programme steering young people away from violence. Derby County Community Trust has secured funding from the Premier League Kicks Police Partnership Fund to address drug-related serious violence among young people across Derbyshire. The week commencing 18th May 2026 has seen an intensification of Derbyshire Constabulary's knife crime initiative called 'Operation Sceptre', with a range of activities being carried out in and around Erewash. A hotspot policing operation that has delivered more than 20,000 targeted patrols across Derbyshire is now being embedded into everyday policing. Operation Shango was launched in July 2023 to tackle anti‑social behaviour and crime in areas where we saw high levels of problem behaviour.
