Nominate your local heroes by 27th February!

Erewash Borough Council has issued a call to residents to nominate people to be recipients of an Erewash Civic Voluntary Award for them to be honoured as outstanding members of our community at a new awards night, hosted by the Mayor of Erewash.

There are seven categories:

• Benefitting Erewash Award
• Community Hero Award
• Culture and Heritage Award
• Green Futures Award
• Lifetime Achievement Award
• Young Volunteer Award
• Youth Work Volunteer Award

Read more about each category and make your nominations on the Erewash Borough Council website.  Make sure to get your nominations in by 27th February 2026.

The Judging Panel will commence in March, and winners will then be invited to attend a celebratory dinner to be held on 20th March.

The awards will be presented by the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Harry Atkinson, who said: “There are so many people in Erewash who work hard to support our local area, and they deserve to be recognised.

“There are lots of ways that people build up our borough, so we have a range of categories representing culture, the environment, younger residents and more.

“These awards are a way for us to say thank you to standout members of our community for all their effort, so please let us know who has made a real difference to you, so we can lift them up in return.”

Councillor Josy Hare, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing, saluted all those in the borough who “give their time, energy and commitment to support their local communities, often on an unpaid and voluntary basis”.

She said: “Their efforts play a vital role in improving the quality of life for residents and strengthening community spirit across the borough.”
