Chamber calls for greater support with energy costs and business rates following Chancellor’s speech

The East Midlands Chamber has welcomed some measures in the Chancellor’s 21st May speech but called for increased energy support for SMEs and a review of business rates to ease pressure on firms amid a tough trading climate. The Government has hinted at potential future support for Denby Pottery and the UK’s ceramics industry after thousands petitioned for action, dozens were made redundant and manufacturing ceased. It has now responded to a petition at saving Denby Pottery weeks after the firm ceased manufacturing after 200 years.
