Chamber responds as Government green lights unitary councils for Nottinghamshire and Nottingham

The East Midlands Chamber has cautiously welcomed the Secretary of State's decision to proceed with the two unitary council options requested by Nottingham City Council, which would be subject to Parliamentary approval, but called for the process to bring minimal disruption to business. A Structural Changes Order is being prepared to formalise the reorganisation and is expected to come into force in 2027. It will transfer functions, responsibilities, assets, liabilities and rights from existing councils to the new unitary authorities. […]

Millions in transport funding for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire good for growth says Chamber

The East Midlands Chamber has welcomed £298m of funding approved by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Board on 8th June, aimed at modernising transport in the cities and counties of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire. Nearly £300m of funding for transport improvements has been approved by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Board. Arrests made following raids on businesses in Nottingham under people smuggling investigation

Two men have been arrested following a series of raids by the National Crime Agency in Kent and the East Midlands, as part of an investigation into a criminal network suspected of smuggling people into the UK in boats. Work has started on a 20-year plan for new villages, towns, roads and city extensions across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Bus passengers in the East Midlands are among the most satisfied in England

Bus passengers in Nottingham are among the most satisfied in England - with 93 per cent reporting positive journeys. The results of Transport Focus’s annual Your Bus Journey survey place Nottingham second in England for satisfaction, just behind Warwickshire.
