Long Eaton Operatic Society presents...

Long Eaton Operatic Society present the regional premier of 'The Likes Of Us' with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber - the moving musical story of Dr Barnardo and London's Rooftop Children.  The society will be performing this latest presentation from 13th-17th April at the May Hall, Trent College, Long Eaton.

Evening performances start at 7:30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2:30pm.  Tickets are available from Heaps Stationers on Main Street, Long Eaton or from the Box Office by calling 01332 874352

Erewash canal architecture wins award

A design scheme to restore part of the Erewash Canal has taken a top prize at an awards event held in Manchester.  Lathams, based in Derby took a 'Waterways Renaissance Award' for its work on a section of waterway running through Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Sandiacre.

Preview of new Children's Centre

A healthy living event held at Scargill Primary School in Beech Lane has given local people a sneak preview of the new West Hallam Children's Centre which is scheduled to open in October.

Food tasting, growing and cooking activities were available, with children being given help and support to get a better understanding of food science and preparation.   The new centre will offer a range of useful services for parents and families all under one roof.

There are more than 50 children's centres across the county, operated by the county council.

Safer Neighbourhood PC gets award

A Safer Neighbourhood officer covering the Ilkeston Rural area has received an award for his productive use of Derbyshire Constabulary’s new mobile data terminals.
