Merrick McIver

Support Erewash Sound

We're very sad to report that, after a period of illness, our friend and colleague Merrick Iver passed away on Friday 16th February 2024.  Merrick absolutely loved radio, loved entertaining the listener and, like many of us, even though he wasn't paid for doing it, radio was very much his love and life.  He will be sadly missed.  Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this difficult time.  His profile remains on our website as a tribute.

Merrick might be new to Erewash Sound, but he is by no means new to radio, and can trace his radio roots back to the earlier days of hospital radio - Radio Link - in Derby where he first got to know fellow Erewash Sound presenters Jeff Martin, Ian Perry and Mark Bennett and late BBC Radio Derby presenter Andy Potter.

He has plenty of experience in FM radio too and is held responsible by Ian for getting him more deeply involved in the FM radio sector in 1996 on trial station Valley Radio in Ripley.

After a period of time away, the lure of the studio, a microphone and a pair of headphones proved too much and he returned to the airwaves on Sunday nights from 7:00pm to 9:00pm bringing you all the music you love including "Merrick's Guilty Pleasure". where he gives into temptation and plays a song that he shamelessly enjoys listening to.
