A new body that is being set up to decide how up to £20million from the Government can boost one of Erewash’s areas is seeking local people to serve on it.

The Pride in Place funding will be overseen by the freshly-created Cotmanhay Neighbourhood Board. Five local people are needed to help determine where the money should be spent.

It follows a hunt for someone with close connections to the area to chair the board. The successful candidate will be announced shortly.

The Erewash Borough Council website references the remaining places that need to be filled, stating: “We’re looking for local people who are passionate about the future of Cotmanhay. We want to make sure there is representation for all local people – so don’t worry if you’ve not done anything like this before or if you’re new to volunteering.

“We’re looking for people with open minds who can listen to the views of local people and create a plan for Cotmanhay.”

Each of those selected for the board is expected to be a champion for their area. Applicants must be committed to seeing change through and improving the lives of locals.

The role will involve engaging with residents, charities, community networks and businesses to help the board decide what projects and services to fund.

Successful candidates will need to be open to hearing different opinions and taking new ideas on board. If you think you fit the bill to be a board member the closing date for applications is 5:00pm on Friday 20th March. Find out how to apply by clicking here.
