Social isolation is to be tackled in an Erewash community after almost £225,000 was awarded to a new scheme by the Mayor of the East Midlands. Mayor Claire Ward has awarded £224,307 to social enterprise Parkside High from her £3 million Community Development Fund. Residents of an Ilkeston property have lost their lives after a suspected gas leak. Police officers were reports that a couple had been found unconscious at a house in The Spinney in the town shortly after 10:10am on Friday 20th February. The incident occurred at around midday on Friday 6th February 2026, when a woman reported that she was approached by a man wearing a high‑visibility jacket who was acting in a suspicious and intimidating manner.
