Businesses across Derbyshire using steel in their operations are being urged to prepare for new import measures. Derbyshire County Council is backing organisations including The British Chambers of Commerce and Make UK as they lobby Government over concerns about new measures to reduce duty-free import volumes of steel and impose tariffs on imports above the quota. The East Midlands Chamber has welcomed £298m of funding approved by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Board on 8th June, aimed at modernising transport in the cities and counties of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire. A shoplifter has been jailed after being caught stealing from numerous shops across Derbyshire, and including in parts of Erewash. Simon Spencer’s offending spanned several months between January and June this year in which he targeted major supermarket chains.
