Waste criminals could soon face police-style powers as the government steps up its crackdown on the crime. Under a new zero-tolerance approach, the government is looking to expand powers under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) as well as the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) and other legislation to the Environment Agency and its enforcement officers. 31 e-scooters seized during February 2026

A further 31 illegally used e-scooters have been seized by Police officers across the county. More than 700 e-scooters have been removed from the streets since Derbyshire Police began their ‘seize first’ approach in November 2024. Officers and PCSOs now seize on the first offence of riding e-scooters illegally, such as on public roads and pavements.
